Microsoft Access is a popular and widely used database management system, which is part of Microsoft Office Suite of products. It is an ideal DBMS for small and medium sized businesses to effectively manage their data. MS Access enables you to share the database over network and simultaneously update it. However, this configuration may cause database corruption in some situations and put you in need of Access database recovery solutions.

As a real-time example of this problem with Microsoft Access database, you may run across database corruption in following scenarios:

• You have one MDB file/Access database that is shared between two users.
• Both the machines have different operating system and Access versions.
• Suddenly the database is not accessible and you get the following message every time you try to access it:
“The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the object. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly.”
• You can not open the database from either of the systems and it is totally unusable.

When it happens with your database, you have to identify the root of this issue and opt for Access recovery to fix it.

Cause:

This behavior occurs due to corruption to your Access database. The database may get damaged due to a wide range of reasons, which include improper editing of the database, splitting the database, application malfunction, virus infection, and more.

Resolution:

Use any of the following Access repair methods to sort out this problem:

• Split the database and run “Compact and Repair” utility.
• Do not run ACCDB/MDB from other computer as it can cause further corruption due to network interruption.
• Restore database from the most recent and valid backup.
• If none of the above methods are helpful, use commercial recovery applications to repair and restore the damaged database.

Such third-party tools are particularly designed to scan whole database using advanced scanning algorithms and restore all database objects. They work well in all corruption situations and with all major versions of Microsoft Access.
